Mostly great, few small quirks

I started using Fabric for its 'second brain' capabilities, and it does a good job with file organization and smart notes. The personal AI search is quite powerful. Delivery was instant, obviously, being software. My only minor gripe is that I wish the mobile version was a bit more robust; it's okay for quick checks but not for deep work. Overall, I'm satisfied with it for my research.

Always a smooth experience

I've been using Fabric for my research workspace for a while now, and this latest annual renewal was as straightforward as always. The AI Canvas continues to be super helpful for organizing my thoughts. It's consistently reliable, which is why I keep coming back.

Good value with annual plan

I was looking for a new tool to manage my projects and saw Fabric. I decided to go with the annual billing to get the 20% savings, which felt like a smart move. The free trial let me test out the knowledge graph, and I liked it enough to commit. It was a solid purchase and I think it's worth the price.

Does anyone know if they offer a lifetime deal at all? Or is it strictly subscriptions?

K Kevin Torres 1 month ago
I've never seen a lifetime deal from them, unfortunately. It's always been subscription based, either monthly or annual.

AFAIK, no lifetime deals. Most SaaS tools like this don't do them anymore. Annual billing is usually the best discount you'll find.

How's the team collaboration features on Fabric? My lab group is looking for something better than shared docs for our project.

R Renee 2 months ago
It's surprisingly good for teams. We use it for a few projects and the shared canvas and real-time editing works well. Plus, the knowledge graph helps everyone stay on the same page.

Yeah, the collaborative documents are solid. You can invite people and share specific canvases or notes. Definitely a step up from just emailing files back and forth.

Trying to find a promo code for Fabric but not seeing any. Do they ever do those, or is it just the annual discount thing?

J June Brooks 2 months ago
Mostly the annual discount and referral bonuses in my experience. I've rarely seen actual promo codes for them, they're pretty rare.

I got a special code once through a specific partner promotion, but that's about it. Don't waste too much time looking for random codes, usually the annual billing is your best bet for savings.

I'm between Fabric and Obsidian. For someone who does a lot of creative writing and idea mapping, which one would be better?

C Carly 2 months ago
Fabric might edge out Obsidian for creative stuff because of the canvas and image library. It's really good for visual thinking and moodboards, which Obsidian doesn't really focus on as much.

Obsidian is super powerful but definitely more text-focused and requires a bit more setup. Fabric feels more out-of-the-box ready for creative exploration with its visual tools and AI nudges.

Thinking of switching from Notion to Fabric. Is the AI assistant really that much better for organizing notes, or is it more or less the same? Notion's been okay but sometimes it feels clunky.

L Lisa Reyes 2 months ago
For me, the AI assistant in Fabric is a game changer, especially for making connections between different notes and files. Notion's AI is good but Fabric feels more integrated and proactive in suggesting stuff.

It's different for sure. Fabric's AI feels more research-focused, like it's actually trying to help you synthesize info. Notion's is more general-purpose. Depends on what you need it for really.
